DEKAD NO. 21 July 21-31, 2017

PHILIPPINE AGRI-WEATHER FORECAST
The weather systems that will affect the whole country are southwest monsoon, intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), low pressure area (LPA) and tropical cyclone.

During the early days of the forecast period, Northern Luzon, Mindanao and western section of Southern Luzon and of Visayas will experience cloudy skies with rainshowers and thunderstorms. After this, southwest monsoon will bring cloudiness with rainshowers and thunderstorms over MIMAROPA, CARAGA, Northern Mindanao and Visayas. Gradual improvement of weather is expected over CARAGA and Northern Mindanao during the second half of the dekad while Visayas, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Central Luzon and Metro Manila will experience cloudy skies with rainshowers and thunderstorms. Luzon will have rains during the latter days of the forecast period. The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with chances of rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Winds coming from the southwest will prevail over Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao during the early days of the dekad while the rest of Luzon will have winds coming from the east to southeast. Afterwards, southwesterly wind flow will prevail over Visayas, Mindanao and the regions of CALABARZON, MIMAROPA and Bicol. The western section of Luzon will have winds blowing from the southwest to southeast while the rest of Luzon will have winds coming from the east to southeast. During the second half of the dekad, winds coming from the southwest will blow over the whole country.

The seaboards of the western section of Luzon will be moderate to rough while the rest of the country will have slight to moderate seas. However, during the latter days of the dekad, the coastal waters over Luzon will be moderate to rough. The seaboards over the rest of the country will be slight to moderate.

The eastern and central equatorial Pacific is in neutral condition.

FARM ADVISORIES

In farm areas that are planning for transplanting activities, one or two days prior to the activity, drain water up to field saturation point and apply basal organic and inorganic Nitrogen (N) fertilizers before leveling using the recommended rate per hectare which is, for Wet Season, farmers can use 6 bags inorganic (14-14-14) and 8 bags organic fertilizer; Then, mix the basal fertilizer thoroughly into the soil, while put the organic near the roots of the plants.
