DEKAD NO. 18 June 21-30, 2017

PHILIPPINE AGRI-WEATHER FORECAST
The weather systems that will affect the whole country are ridge of high pressure area (HPA), intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), southwest monsoon and low pressure area (LPA) with chances of becoming tropical cyclone.

During the early days of the forecast period, the whole country will have good weather with possible occurrences of isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. Afterwards, Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao, CARAGA, Davao and SOCCSKSARGEN will have cloudiness with rainshowers and thunderstorms. During the latter days of the dekad, the possible occurrence of LPA will convey cloudiness over Luzon with rainshowers or thunderstorms while the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with rainshowers or thunderstorms.

During the early days of the dekad, light to moderate winds from southwest to south will blow over Palawan while the rest of the country will have light to moderate winds from southeast to south. Afterwards, Visayas and Mindanao will have light to moderate winds from southeast to south. The rest of the country will have southwesterly windflow. During the latter days, winds coming from east to southeast will prevail over Luzon while the rest of the country will have winds from southeast to south.

The coastal waters throughout the whole country will be slight to moderate. However, during the latter days of the forecast period, the seaboards of Luzon is expected to be moderate to rough while the rest of the country will have slight to moderate seas.

  The eastern and central equatorial Pacific is in neutral condition.

FARM ADVISORIES

In order to attain potential rice production, farmers are reminded to choose the right variety for their field, it should be adapted to local conditions, high yielding and of desired maturity, resistant to major pests and soil problems, of good eating quality, should be of high quality seeds preferably certified seeds and raise the seeds into healthy and vigorous seedlings.

It is recommended to choose seedbed site that is near a water source, disease-free, and far from streetlights. Apply or incorporate organic matter into the soil to make it light and porous and facilitate seedling pulling.

BY MONDAY (JUNE 26), THE LPA IS EXPECTED TO DISSIPATE. THE WHOLE COUNTRY WIL HAVE PARTLY CLOUDY TO CLOUDY SKIES WITH ISOLATED RAINSHOWERS ORTHUNDERSTORMS.

THROUGHOUT THE REST OF THE OUTLOOK PERIOD(JUNE 27-30),GENERALLY HOT AND HUMID WEATHER CONDITIONS APART FROM SOME ISOLATED AFTERNOON OR EVENING RAINSHOWERS OR THUNDERSTORMS WILL PREVAIL THROUGHOUT THE ARCHIPELAGO AS THE RIDGE OF A HIGH PRESSURE AREA WILL BE THE DOMINANT WEATHER SYSTEM TO AFFECT THE COUNTRY.

The occurrence of widespread rainfall recorded in most PAGASA stations monitored in the last five days under Type 1 Climate confirms the onset of the rainy season. Intermittent to continuous rains and thunderstorms, associated with the Southwest Monsoon, will continue to affect Metro Manila and the western section of the country.
