The Tropical Depression outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) continues to move generally westward near Palau and is expected to enter the PAR this early afternoon.

The center of the Tropical Depression was estimated based on all available data at 980 km East of Mindanao (OUTSIDE PAR)(07.6°N,135.2°E)    Track

Low Pressure Area
  • The Tropical Depression is expected to enter the PAR this early afternoon and will be named "CHEDENG".
  • Scattered to at times widespread moderate to heavy rains may prevail over Davao Oriental and Surigao del Sur tomorrow (18 March) and in other parts of Mindanao on Tuesday (19 March).  The disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned and residents in these areas, especially those living in areas at high risk of flooding and landslides are advised to undertake necessary preparations and continue monitoring for updates.
  • Moderate to rough seas will persist over the eastern seaboard of Visayas and Mindanao on Monday and Tuesday. Those with small seacrafts are not advised to venture out to sea.
  • This weather disturbance may make landfall over the eastern coast of Davao Oriental between tomorrow evening and Tuesday morning. However, there remains a possibility that this Tropical Depression will weaken into a Low Pressure Area before coming onshore.
The public and the disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned are advised to monitor for the next update to be incorporated in the Severe Weather Bulletin to be issued at 5:00 PM today.
