Comp. Programmer II

Position Summary:
NMS/RDTD is in immediate need of (1) Computer Programmer II to support the MECO-TECO: Improvement of Forecast Capability on Weather, Marine Meteorology and Short Range Climate- Sub-Project 2: Heavy Rain Monitoring and Forecasting in the Mountainous Area and Early Warning Landslides.

TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR COMPUTER PROGRAMMER II
• Project Staff, Full-time position
• Monthly salary: P 31, 430.40
• Office: Research and Development and Training Division
• Educational Attainment: Bachelor’s/ College Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related fields

The Computer Programmer II will directly report to the Chief of the Research and Development and Training Division (RDTD) particularly on the technical needs of the Project.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
• Assist in data processing and analysis.
• Develop relevant algorithms, programs and software as required by the Project.
• Assist in preparation of technical reports and manuscripts for publication.
• Plans, organizes and coordinates various technical/ administrative work/ activities under the Project.

Successful applicant must have:
• Experience in most if not all of the following:
 Windows/Linux Administration
 Python, Fortran, C++ or other high level programming language
 HTML, CSS, Joomla CMS
 Participation in all phases of Software Development Life Cycle including business requirements review, technical design, coding and unit testing, integrating, testing, release documentation, post implementation support, etc.
• Good oral and written communication skills especially in conveying technical information
• Ability to conduct research studies
• Strong initiative and is able to work with minimal supervision
• Proven ability to meet priorities and produce quality deliverables and results while handling multiple work items.
• Excellent organizational and management skills
Background in Meteorology and knowledge in Numerical Weather Prediction modeling is an advantage.

Contract of Employment:
6 Months (Renewable depending on performance and project duration)
