Position Summary:
WD/ RDTD is in immediate need of (1) Research Associate, (1) Computer Programmer II and (1) Research Assistant to support the MECO-TECO: Improvement of Forecast Capability on Weather, Marine Meteorology and Short Range Climate- Sub-Project 1: Typhoon Formation, Structure and Intensity Change in Western NP and Wave Observation and Modeling.

TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR RESEARCH ASSOCIATE
• Project Staff, Full-time position
• Monthly salary: Project-based
• Office: Weather Division/Research and Development and Training Division
• Educational Attainment: Bachelor’s/ College Degree preferably in Natural Sciences

The Research Associate will directly report to the Chief of the Weather Division/ Chief of HTMIRDS- RDTD particularly on the technical monitoring of the Project with the following duties:
• Carry out extraction and collection of relevant data
• Assist in data processing and analysis
• Coordinate the various activities to be conducted under the Project such as trainings/workshops
• Assist in preparation of technical reports and manuscripts for publication
• Perform other functions as may be required by the Project

Successful applicant must have:
• Background in Meteorology, Physics, Environmental Science and other related sciences
• Good oral and written communication skills especially in conveying technical information
• Wide range of computer skills. Must be skilled in the use of computer spreadsheet and/or database applications in the compilation of research data
• Familiarity with computing platforms such as but not limited to Windows and Linux
• Ability to conduct research studies
• Strong initiative and is able to work with minimal supervision
• Excellent organizational and management skills

Contract of Employment: 6 Months (Renewable depending on performance and project duration)

• Project Staff, Full-time position
• Monthly salary: Project-based
• Office: Weather Division/Research and Development and Training Division
• Educational Attainment: Bachelor’s/ College Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related fields

The Computer Programmer II will directly report to the Chief of the Weather Division/ Chief of HTMIRDS- RDTD particularly on the technical programming needs of the Project with the following duties:
• Assist in data processing and analysis
• Design a database of collected research data
• Develop relevant algorithms, programs and software as required by the Project
• Assist in preparation of technical reports and manuscripts for publication
• Perform other functions as may be required by the Project

Successful applicant must have:
• Experience in most if not all of the following:
 Database design and reporting (MSSQL, MYSQL)
 Windows/Linux Administration
 ASP, PHP, VBScript, JavaScript
 HTML, CSS, Joomla CMS
 Participation in all phases of Software Development Life Cycle including business requirements review, technical design, coding and unit testing, integrating, testing, release documentation, post implementation support, etc.
• Good oral and written communication skills especially in conveying technical information
• Ability to conduct research studies
• Strong initiative and is able to work with minimal supervision
• Excellent organizational and management skills
