Weather Advisory No. 6

FOR:Tail-End of a Frontal System (Shear Line), Northeast Monsoon, and Low Pressure Area
ISSUED AT: 11:00 AM 2020 December 02

At 10:00 AM today, the Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated based on all available data at 105 km East Northeast of Catarman, Northern Samar or 180 km East of Juban, Sorsogon (12.7°N, 125.6°E). It is forcecast to move closer towards the Northern Samar - Bicol Region area. This LPA remains less likely to develop into a tropical depression in the next 24 hours. Meanwhile, the Tail-End of the Frontal System is affecting the eastern sections of Northern and Central Luzon and the surge of the Northeast Monsoon is prevailing over the rest of Northern and Central Luzon.

Hazards affecting land areas

Today: The LPA and the Tail-End of the Frontal System will bring moderate to heavy rains over Cagayan, Isabela, Apayao, and Kalinga and light to moderate with at times heavy rainshowers during thunderstorms over Aurora, Quezon, Marinduque, Romblon, Bicol Region, and Visayas. Meanwhile, occasional to frequent light to moderate rains will prevail over the rest of Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Region.

Tomorrow: The LPA and the Tail-End of the Frontal System will bring moderate to heavy rains Cagayan, Isabela, Apayao, and Kalinga and light to moderate with at times heavy rainshowers during thunderstorms over Bicol Region, Aurora, Quezon, and Marinduque. Meanwhile, occasional to frequent light to moderate rains will prevail over Ilocos Norte and the rest of Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Region.

Flooding (including flash floods) and rain-induced landslides may occur during heavy or prolonged periods of rainfall, especially in areas that are identified to be highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards and in localities that received significant antecedent rainfall over the past couple of days or weeks. Adjacent or nearby areas may also experience flooding in the absence of such rainfall occurrence due to surface runoff or swelling of river channels.

The public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned are advised to take appropriate measures and watch for the next update on this weather disturbance to be incorporated in the 24-Hour Public Weather Forecast at 4:00 PM today and 4:00 AM tomorrow. PAGASA Regional Services Divisions may issue local Thunderstorm/Rainfall Advisories and Heavy Rainfall Warnings while the Hydrometeorology Division and River Basin Flood Forecasting and Warning Centers may issue General Flood Advisories and River Basin Flood Advisories/Bulletins as appropriate.

The next weather advisory will be issued at 11:00 AM tomorrow.
