"PERLA" WEAKENS INTO A SEVERE TROPICAL STORM AND IS NOW OUTSIDE THE PHILIPPINE AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY (PAR).

  • "PERLA" exited the PAR at 5:15 PM today.
  • Occasional gusts may still be experienced over Extreme Northern Luzon until tomorrow (21 October) due to the prevailing northeasterly surface wind flow.
  • Sea travel is risky, especially for small sea vessels, over the seaboards of Northern Luzon due to potentially rough sea conditions associated with the northeasterly surface wind flow.
  • Active tropical cyclone outside the PAR: At 10:00 PM today, the center of Severe Tropical Storm "BUALOI" (meaning: a Thai dessert) was estimated based on all available data at 2,690 km East of Visayas (12.7°N,149.4°E) with maximum sustained winds of 110 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 135 km/h. It is moving Northwest at 20 km/h and remains less likely to enter the PAR.

    Location of eye/center: At 10:00 PM today, the center of Severe Tropical Storm "PERLA" was estimated based on all available data at 1,035 km Northeast of Basco, Batanes (OUTSIDE PAR) (25.7 °N, 130.3 °E)
    Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 110 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 135 kph
    Forecast Movement: Forecast to move North Northeast at 20 kph
