Weather Advisory No. 14

FOR:Low Pressure Area and Tail-End of a Frontal System (Shear Line)
ISSUED AT: 11:00 AM 2021 January 20

The Low Pressure Area (LPA) Northeast of Romblon, Romblon dissipated at 8:00 AM today. Another LPA developed east of Southern Luzon at 8:00 AM today and at 10:00 AM, it was estimated based on all available data at 250 km East of Virac, Catanduanes (14.0°N, 126.5°E).  This LPA is less likely to develop into a tropical depression in the next 24 hours. Meanwhile, the Tail-End of a Frontal System is affecting the eastern section of Central Luzon.

Hazards affecting land areas:

In the next 24 hours, the combined effects of the LPA and Tail-End of a Frontal System will bring moderate to heavy rains with at times intense rains over Isabela, Quirino, Aurora, and the eastern portion of Cagayan. Light to moderate with at times heavy rains over Cordillera Administrative Region, CALABARZON, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Camarines Norte, and the rest of Cagayan Valley.

Flooding (including flashfloods) and rain-induced landslides may occur during heavy or prolonged periods of rainfall, especially in areas identified to be highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards or in localities that received significant amount rainfall during the past couple of days or weeks. Adjacent or nearby areas may also experience flooding in the absence of such rainfall occurrence due to surface runoff or swelling of river channels.

The public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned are advised to take appropriate measures and watch for the next update on this weather disturbance to be incorporated in the 24-Hour Public Weather Forecast at 4:00 PM today and 4:00 AM tomorrow. PAGASA Regional Services Divisions will issue local thunderstorm/rainfall advisories and heavy rainfall warnings in their respective areas of responsibility while the Hydrometeorology Division and River Basin Flood Forecasting and Warning Centers will issue general flood advisories and river basin flood advisories/bulletins as appropriate.

Unless an intermediate advisory is released, the next weather advisory will be issued at 11:00 AM tomorrow.
